
- Dextrose (same as Glucose) has the following uses, depending on the concentration:
- To add fluids to your body after fluid loss.
- To dissolve a medication to be given as an injection.
- To treat low blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia).
- To treat high potassium levels in the blood.
- You cannot receive Dextrose
- If you’re allergic to the active substance or any other component of this medicine.
- If you are allergic to corn or corn products.
- If you have very high blood sugar levels (hyperglycemia).
- If you have been bleeding in the spine or brain.
- If you have had a stroke.
- If you cannot pass urine.
- If you have a condition known as Delirium Tremens (uncontrolled shaking after stopping drinking alcohol).
