• Ciprofloxacin is a bactericidal antibiotic of the fluoroquinolone drug class.
• It inhibits DNA replication by inhibiting bacterial DNA topoisomerase and DNA-gyrase which are necessary to separate bacterial DNA, thereby inhibiting cell division.

• It can be used in the following infections:

1. Skin infections
2. Bone and joint infections
3. Gastrointestinal infections
4. Intra-abdominal infections
5. Urinary infections
6. Respiratory tract infections
7. Sinusitis
8. Genial tract infections (Gonorrhea)
9. Typhoid fever
10. Inhalation anthrax exposure

Method Of Administration Of Cipromax 500 Mg Tablets

• Take exactly as indicated by your doctor.
• Take this drug at the same time of day.
• Take with or without food.
• Take with a full glass of water.
• Swallow the tablet whole. Do not split, crush or chew.
• Drink plenty of fluids while taking this medicine.
• Do not take this medicine with dairy products, like milk or yogurt, or calcium-rich juices
• The dosing may differ depending on the site and severity of your infection.
• For adults, the usual dosing range is 250 – 750 mg every 12 hours.
• For children, the dosing is usually done according to the child’s body weight in mg/kg/dose. It is usually between 10-20 mg/kg/dose every 12 hours.
• Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
• If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
• If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
• Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.

Undesirable Side Effects Of Cipromax 500 Mg Tablets

• Although the following side effects are not common in everyone, some patients may complain from:

1. Muscle and joint problems
2. Nausea
3. Diarrhea
4. Vomiting
5. Rash
6. Changes in liver function tests
7. Tendon rupture or swelling
8. Peripheral neuropathy (changes in sensation, risk of permanent damage)
9. Central nervous system problems (dizziness, seizures…)
10. Liver toxicity
11. Irregular heart rhythm known as “QT prolongation”
12. Worsening of Myasthenia Gravis
