Dextrose (same as Glucose) has the following uses, depending on the concentration:

To add fluids to your body after fluid loss.

To dissolve a medication to be given as an injection.

To treat low blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia).

To treat high potassium levels in the blood.

You cannot receive Dextrose

If you’re allergic to the active substance or any other component of this medicine.

If you are allergic to corn or corn products.

If you have very high blood sugar levels (hyperglycemia).

If you have been bleeding in the spine or brain.

If you have had a stroke.

If you cannot pass urine.

If you have a condition known as Delirium Tremens (uncontrolled shaking after stopping drinking alcohol).
